Laws

There are some important laws associated with aliens and nationality cases, which it is good to know about.

The Administrative Procedure Act (1971:291) states how the administration of justice should be conducted in the general administrative courts.

The Aliens Act (2005:716) contains special provisions on how aliens and nationality matters should be processed at the Swedish Migration Board, the Migration Courts and at the Migration Court of Appeal.

The Swedish Nationality Act (2001:82) governs how nationality matters should be processed at the Swedish Migration Board, the Migration Courts and at the Migration Court of Appeal.

The Secrecy Act (2009:400) states the conditions for information being kept secret.

The Act (1994:1219) on the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.

The Act (2016:752) on temporary limitations of the opportunity to be granted residence permit in Sweden. Valid until July 19, 2019.

From 1 July 2018 new provisions in the legislation have been introduced making it possible for those who previously had their asylum application denied to apply for a resi-dence permit for upper-secondary school studies. The change in the legislation is temporary, and the application must be submitted between 1 July and 30 September 2018.
